Culpeper Museum "Dino Walk"

Culpeper Museum “Dino Walk”

May 1, 2026 - May 2, 2026 - All Day at Luck Stone – Culpeper Plant
18260 Germanna Hwy

If you’re looking for something wildly unique to kick off May… I’ve got just the thing—and yes, it involves actual dinosaur footprints right here in Virginia.

Coming up May 1st and 2nd, the Museum of Culpeper History is bringing back their annual DinoWalk—and this is one of those events that people wait all year for.

We’re talking about a rare chance to step inside the Luck Stone Quarry in Culpeper and see one of the largest collections of dinosaur tracks in North America. These footprints date back more than 215 million years to the Triassic Period… long before Culpeper had stoplights, coffee shops, or, you know… humans.

This isn’t something you can just swing by anytime either—DinoWalk only happens once a year, and access is extremely limited. You’ll need to grab a vehicle pass in advance, and that gets you and your crew into a guided caravan tour down into the quarry where the tracks are in the rock like nature’s own time capsule.

Once you’re down there, you’ll have time to explore, take it all in, and just kind of stand there in awe thinking… something enormous walked here millions of years ago. It’s equal parts science, history, and just straight-up “whoa.”

Passes are 50 bucks per vehicle but heads up—these sell out FAST every single year. So, if this is even remotely on your radar, don’t wait around.

And bonus—you’ll also get free admission to the Museum of Culpeper History the same day, so you can turn this into a full-on day trip.

Just remember, it’s an active quarry site, so follow all safety rules, wear good shoes, and leave the pets at home.

DinoWalk, May 1st and 2nd in Culpeper—because sometimes the coolest thing you can do… is walk where dinosaurs once did.

Save the date for Saturday, May 9th, 2026. The 25th Annual Hospice of the Piedmont 5K Run and Walk returns to Keswick Estate, and this year’s message is simple and powerful: Every Step Matters.

Each spring, our community comes together to walk or run the scenic 5K course in support of Hospice of the Piedmont, our region’s only nonprofit hospice. Walkers and runners of all abilities are welcome, whether you’re chasing a personal record, walking in honor of someone you love, or simply showing up to support a mission that touches so many local families.

One of the most meaningful parts of the morning is the Memorial Mile, where participants honor those we’ve lost. It’s a beautiful reminder that while we’re embracing the healing power of movement and a little friendly competition, we’re also gathering with purpose.

For 45 years, Hospice of the Piedmont has provided compassionate end-of-life care and grief support to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. This 5K is a vital part of their annual fundraising efforts, with individual and team fundraising, along with community sponsorships, helping them continue that work with expertise and empathy.
