If you’re looking for a true hometown Fourth of July celebration, Greene County has an entire day of family fun planned for the Red, White, Blue ‘N Greene Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4th.
The festivities begin bright and early with the Second Annual Freedom 5K and Fun Run. Race registration starts at 7:30 in the morning, followed by a prayer and the National Anthem at 8:25. The race gets underway at 8:30, with awards presented at 9:15.
Then at 10 AM, it’s time for the Red, White, Blue ‘N Greene Parade, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary year. Organizers are still accepting parade entries, so businesses, community groups, and organizations are encouraged to get involved.
After the parade, the celebration shifts to Morris Field in Ruckersville. Gates open at 4 PM for an evening packed with live music, family activities, food, and fun.
You’ll find a children’s play zone, barrel train rides, a caricature artist, beer garden, and no fewer than 16 food trucks serving up everything from festival favorites to sweet treats.
Live entertainment features Edy & Max from 5:45 until 7:15, followed by The Barons from 7:30 until 9:20. At 9:25, Edy French will perform the National Anthem, leading up to the highlight of the evening…
A spectacular community fireworks display beginning at 9:35 PM.
Admission is just five dollars per person, collected upon parking, and organizers remind attendees that no pick-ups or drop-offs will be permitted on-site.
The Red, White, Blue ‘N Greene celebration relies on community support, and sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses and individuals who would like to help keep this event thriving for years to come.
