Louisa Baptist Church Yard Sale Fundraiser
Saturday, June 6th 2026 - 7:00 am - 1:00 pm at Louisa Baptist Church
305 E. Main St.
Louisa Baptist Church is hosting a big Yard Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, June 6th from 7 AM to 1 PM… and this isn’t just about finding a great deal on a hidden treasure. This is about turning your “extras” into real impact.
Every single dollar raised is going to support The Journey Home… helping continue their mission of serving folks in need right here in our community. So that chair you don’t use anymore, those kitchen gadgets collecting dust, the clothes you’ve outgrown… they’re not just items, they’re opportunities to help someone else.
Now here’s where you come in… they’re currently collecting gently used donations in the days leading up to the sale. Furniture, home décor, kitchenware, clothing… if it’s still got some life left in it, it can make a difference. They’ll be announcing specific drop-off days and times soon, so keep an eye out for that.
And even if you’re not donating… mark your calendar and stop by. Yard sales like this are part treasure hunt, part community gathering… and every purchase you make goes straight back into helping others.
So, whether you’re clearing space, hunting for a bargain, or just showing up to support a great cause… Saturday, June 6th at Louisa Baptist Church is the place to be.

Music & Mindfulness Program- Graves Mountain Farm & Lodges
Sunday, June 14th 2026 - All Day at Graves Mountain Farm and Lodges
225 Graves Mountain Ln
If you know a talented young musician in Central Virginia, here’s an incredible opportunity coming up this summer in Madison County.
The Music & Mindfulness program is returning to Graves Mountain Farm & Lodges in Syria, Virginia, running Sunday, June 14th through Monday, June 22nd.
This eight-day overnight program is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Center for Music & Creative Arts in collaboration with Music & Mindfulness, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit organization. The program gives advanced high school orchestral and vocal students a powerful opportunity to expand their musical abilities while also connecting with nature and learning mindfulness techniques that help build focus, confidence, and resilience.
Throughout the week, students receive one-on-one instruction, participate in small group and chamber music sessions, and rehearse for orchestral and choir performances. They’ll also explore new styles of music through introductory workshops in genres like jazz and bluegrass, and take part in lively jam sessions and collaborative concerts.
But the experience goes beyond music. Students will also practice mindfulness techniques designed to reduce stress and strengthen the mind-body connection. The schedule includes activities like yoga, meditation, nature walks, swimming, horseback riding, campfires, karaoke, and more — all set in the beautiful surroundings of Madison County.
Even more impressive, every student attends on a full scholarship, with instruction, meals, and lodging all covered. That’s made possible through the mission of the Blue Ridge Center for Music and Creative Arts and the generosity of community supporters who help ensure no talented student is left behind due to family income.
Students interested in attending must submit an application, and community members who would like to support the next generation of musicians and artists are encouraged to donate to help keep the program thriving.
You can learn more or make a contribution by visiting blueridgecenterarts.com or by mailing donations directly to the Blue Ridge Center for Music & Creative Arts in Madison.
iCan Bike Charlottesville
Monday, June 15th 2026 - 8:30 am at Albemarle High School
2775 Hydraulic Rd
For many of us, learning to ride a bike is one of those unforgettable childhood milestones… the wind in your face, the freedom, the confidence, and maybe a scraped knee or two along the way. But for many individuals with disabilities, that experience never happens. In fact, research shows more than 80 percent of people with Autism and 90 percent of people with Down syndrome may never have the opportunity to independently ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle.
That’s exactly why iCan Bike exists… and this summer, the program is rolling back into Charlottesville.
iCan Bike Charlottesville takes place June 15th through the 19th at Albemarle High School on Hydraulic Road, giving individuals with disabilities the chance to learn how to ride a traditional two-wheel bike in a safe, encouraging, and incredibly uplifting environment.
The program uses adapted bicycles, trained instructors, and a team of volunteers to help riders gradually build balance, coordination, confidence, and independence over the course of the week. Organizers say many participants who start camp unable to ride leave by the end of the week pedaling on their own… something families often describe as life changing.
Each rider attends one 75-minute session each day of camp, with sessions running throughout the day beginning at 8:30 in the morning and continuing into the afternoon.
Along with riders, volunteers are also needed to help make the week successful. No special experience is required… just patience, encouragement, and a willingness to help somebody achieve something huge.
For registration information, volunteer opportunities, or questions about the Charlottesville camp, you can email Matt at icanbikecharlottesvilleva@gmail.com or call 540-327-3826.
Again, iCan Bike Charlottesville happens June 15th through the 19th at Albemarle High School… helping more people experience the freedom, confidence, and joy that comes with riding a bike independently for the very first time.

If you’ve got a middle or high school student who loves art, creativity, and trying new things, here’s a summer opportunity happening right here in Louisa that might be the perfect fit.
The Louisa Arts Center is hosting Camp Creative June 15th through the 19th at their Fredericksburg Avenue location in Louisa. Designed for students in grades 6 through 12, this hands-on camp encourages young artists to explore their creativity while discovering new ways to express themselves through art.
Camp runs daily from 11 AM until 2 PM and gives students the chance to work with a wide variety of materials, techniques, and artistic styles. Participants will explore projects centered around identity, self-expression, and creative experimentation, all under the guidance of Camp Director Danni Perry.
Students will have the opportunity to create altered photographs, learn printmaking techniques including gelli plate printing and relief printing, experiment with mixed media textile projects, and much more. Whether your child already considers themselves an artist or simply enjoys being creative, Camp Creative is designed to encourage exploration and build confidence through the arts.
The cost for the week is $125, and organizers want families to know that youth scholarships are available through the LaVahn and Mary Frances Hoh Scholarship Fund to help make the camp accessible to more students in our community.

The experience doesn’t end when camp wraps up. Students will also have the opportunity to showcase their work during a special final exhibition on July 19th at 2 PM.
Again, that’s Camp Creative, June 15th through the 19th at the Louisa Arts Center, open to students in grades 6 through 12.
