City Manager’s Office Presents Reduced-Sized Transportation Project Portfolio

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The City Manager’s Office presented to City Council a reduced city transportation project portfolio that City Manager Sam Sanders predicts is sure to make some unhappy. Deputy City Manager for Operations James Freas (frees) presented a report Sanders said was hard to present because projects have to be scaled back or canceled.

Among the canceled planned projects is Phase 2 of the Emmet Streetscape improvement, which was supposed to happen after the current Phase 1 from Ivy to Arlington; and 5th Street SW and Ridge improvements. Freas says the city currently has 24 projects worth $138-million under construction with 13 in design and right-of-way acquisition stages.
