CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – City Council is skeptical of a proposal to place more midnight-to-6am parking prohibitions on city streets designed to turn over parking to more people. City Engineer Brennan Duncan presented a proposal to Council Monday night to add semi-trucks, boats, RVs, and vehicles with antique or farm use plates to overnight parking. It also adds vehicles with tarps blocking the site of inspection or vehicle registration stickers.

Councilors expressed wanted revisions so that working class individuals would not be ticketed if they have an expired vehicle inspection because they don’t have the money to fix it in a month or two, Councilor Bryan Pinkston also expressed hesitation about blanket RV restrictions because they may not be the impediment on wider streets than narrower streets in the city.

Council will consider the proposal in two weeks. Click here to view the proposal.
