A charter bus was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning on Interstate-81. It happened just before 3:30 a.m. in Augusta County around mile-marker 234 near Weyers Cave.

State Police say the driver of the charter bus detected a problem and pulled over on the northbound side. The driver, who was the only one on the bus, escaped before the fire spread through the bus.

The cause is under investigation.
