(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA)   Two Republicans who are trying to win their for party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate made campaign swings through Albemarle County over the weekend.    Chesapeake minister E.W. Jackson had a rally Sunday evening at the Double Tree Hotel.

Jackson says he’s not worried about Ku Klux Klan members and neo-Nazis, which are two groups that invaded Charlottesville last summer.  He believes people view them as idiots and fools.

Culpeper Delegate Nick Freitas spent part of his Friday night opening a regional campaign headquarters on Commonwealth Drive.   Freitas is critical of incumbent Democratic Senator Tim Kaine.  He contends Kaine has sided too often with northern liberal Democrats such as Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Jackson, Freitas, and their rival Corey Stewart are trying to mobilize supporters ahead of a June 12th Republican primary.   Kaine and whoever wins the GOP primary will face off during the November 6th general election.
