Western Albemarle HS Swimmer Heilman Qualifies for Paris Olympics

Thomas Heilman, a 17-year-old student from Crozet attending Western Albemarle High School, qualified for the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

Heilman won the men’s 200-meter butterfly at the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials, held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, with a time of 1:54.50, edging out Luca Urlando.

His win secures his place on the U.S. Olympic team, where he will compete in Paris this summer.

Heilman plans to head to the University of Virginia in the fall.
