VDOT looking for public input as part of 5th Street/I64 interchange study

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – We’re a long way before anything’s done, but VDOT has begun the process of looking at way of improving the 5th Street-I64 interchange and they want your input.

VDOT’s Lou Hatter says development south of the interstate, combined with the opening of 5th Street Station, have increased traffic volume through that corridor. Hatter says they have an online survey asking what your experience is at the interchange currently, and priorities you’d like to see in VDOT improvements. Hatter says among the options they’re looking at is a diverging diamond, such as at Zion Crossroads and Pantops interchanges.  Albemarle County is also requesting multi-modal transportation connectivity on anything VDOT does with the interchange.
