UVa Health System Board Chair Babur Lateef running for Lt. Governor

WOODBRIDGE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia Health System’s Board Chair is running for statewide office. Ophthalmologist Dr. Babur Lateef has been Prince William County’s School Board Chairman At-Large and has announced a run for the Democratic nomination for Lt. Governor. In a 3-minute video kicking off his campaign, he touts 36% in teacher pay raises, more special education support, dual enrollment, commitments to equity and clean energy, and weapons detection systems to prevent school shootings among accomplishments passed during his school board term.

He was chosen as UVa Health Systems Board chair in 2022, and has been on the UVa Board of Visitors since 2016.
