CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – An adult, two children, and a pet are displaced after fire this (Tuesday) morning in Mallside Forest Apartments apparently caused by a candle. Firefighters were called shortly before 4:30 Tuesday morning to the 800 block of Mallside Forest Court and arriving crews found nothing observable on the exterior. Upon entry, firefighters found a bedroom fire in a second-floor unit. Three apartments, though, sustained damage mostly due to water from sprinkler activation. One person with minor injuries refused treatment. Those displaced were being assisted by the apartment complex management with relocation.

The initial investigation is the fire was accidentally ignited by a candle too close to combustible materials. The estimated damage is $15,000.
