Teen dies in pursuit crash in Orange Co.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 17-year-old male died at the scene of an early Sunday morning crash in Orange County after a short pursuit by Town of Orange Police on Route 20, Constitution Highway, according to the Virginia State Police.

A VSP release said law enforcement in the Town of Orange were pursuing a 2014 Nissan Altima to the west of the town at 2:01 a.m. Sunday when the Altima driver ran off the right side of the road near Woodside Road and struck a ditch, a mailbox, and two trees.

The vehicle then went airborne and struck a second mailbox before coming to rest.

State Police is investigating the crash, and Cville Right Now has reached out to Orange PD for information about the pursuit.
