CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A student was struck and injured by a car while waiting for a school bus in Esmont on Thursday morning, a county spokesperson confirmed to Cville Right Now.

“A child who was waiting at the bus stop did sustain an injury to their foot by a passing by car,” ACPD spokesperson Logan Bogert said.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Porters Road and King Solomons Lane in Esmont between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m.

Thursday afternoon, ACPD announced it was looking for a dark blue sedan it believes was involved in the hit-and-run.

According to an emergency call, a mother reported her son was hit by a car, which then fled the scene.

The injured student is being transported to UVA hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his foot, Bogert said.

“ACPD is asking the public to come forward with any information that may lead to locating the suspect vehicle in this incident,” an ACPD release said. “Anyone who was traveling in this area is encouraged to check their dash cam footage.”
