CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Six people were displaced Sunday night by a fire in a residence in the 1700 block of Solomon Rd., according to Albemarle Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched around 9:11 p.m. to the address. The first crews arrived two minutes later to find smoke coming from the basement, according to an ACFR release. Five people home at the time, three adults and two children, were able to safely evacuate before the firefighters arrived.
A total of four adults and two children were helped by family and friends overnight, and the Red Cross began assistance Monday morning, according to ACFR.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
