CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Michie Tavern won’t have a new owner, after all.

On March 7, the historic eatery posted on Facebook that, “the prospective purchaser terminated the contract.”

“There’s really nothing I can say except yes, it was the Thomas Jefferson Foundation that pulled out,” said owner Greg MacDonald.

The Foundation’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Jennifer Lyon, said in a March 11 statement, “After considerable study, the Foundation determined that this acquisition was not prudent under the current agreement, and we are no longer under contract.”
