CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Police activity on the Grounds of Sentara Martha Jefferson with a person detained after the hospital was locked down for about 10 minutes.  Albemarle Police responded to the 500 block of Martha Jefferson Drive at 10:56 am for a call regarding a suspicious person in the hospital. There was no active shooter, as some had speculated. One witness says it involved someone in a lab coat, but that’s not confirmed.

One source reports a person impersonating a doctor walked into a meeting, put a bag down on table with a threat. The person then ran, and police chased him down on the grounds. That information is not confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, but police have detained the person at this time and there is no threat to the public.
