CHS grad Brandon Shah to be remembered over the weekend in Hampton Roads

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A celebration of the life of Charlottesville High School graduate, Lt. Col. Brandon A. Shah happens all weekend in Hampton Roads after he was shot to death March 12 by a gunman at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

Shah was a 2002 Charlottesville High School graduate.

Professor of Military Science (PMS) at ODU’s Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), the Staunton native and decorated military veteran who directed ODU’s ROTC program, was killed when a gunman opened fire on a classroom.

He was killed and two other people were wounded.

According to an obituary at Presidential Funeral Services in Portsmouth, a public viewing will be from 4-to-7 p.m. at its facility at 1629 High Street in that southeast Virginia city.

Then on Sunday, it’s a celebration of life from 1-to-2:3o p.m. at Chartway Arena on Hampton Blvd. on ODU’s campus.

According to his obituary, “While enlisted, he obtained the rank of Sergeant before transitioning. On completing his enlisted service, which included service in the Active Duty Army, Army Reserves, and Virginia Army National Guard, Brandon graduated from Old Dominion University. Since his enlisted service to present, he has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and a rotation to Atlantic Resolve.”

LTC Brandon Shah is survived by his wife Katherine M. Shah, son, Lucas Shah, mother, Judith Jenkins, sister Tasnim (Mimi) Shah, mother-in-law, Patricia Martin, father-in-law, Dan Martin, grandmother, Dorothy Jenkins, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
