Louisa Sheriff’s Office investigates death of a child hit by vehicle

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday it is continuing to investigate the death of an 18-month old who was killed after being hit by a vehicle in a driveway at a Mineral home.

According to the release, deputies were called to the 2000 block of Mineral Creek Rd. around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies, along with personnel from Louisa County Fire & EMS, arrived a short time later and found the child unresponsive in the driveway.

“Despite immediate response efforts, (the child) was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the release said.

While the investigation continues, initial findings indicate the incident was an accident.
