CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The winner of the 2024 Monticello Cup Wine Competition is King Family Vineyards for their 2021 Mountain Plains wine. King Family botted 269 cases of this winner in June 2023 and is made with 45% Cabernet Franc, 37% Merlot, and 18% Petit Verdot.
This 33rd year of friendly competition with kicked off Monticello Wine Week requires a wine be comprised of at least 85% fruit from the Monticello AVA, and produced by a Monticello Wine Trail member. 10 other different wineries placed wines in the Monticello case:
