Gunshot victim dropped off at Lake Monticello main gate

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A gunshot victim was dropped off early Monday morning at the main entrance gate of Lake Monticello, according to the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Department. The victim’s condition was not known.

Major David Wells said the sheriff’s department got a call around 2:10 a.m. about the victim left at 857 Jefferson Drive. Units arrived to find the victim with a gunshot wound and indications of assault. The victim was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

Some neighborhood residents report Pegasus landing and taking off at the dam on Jefferson Drive around 3 a.m.

Investigators are currently working to determine the physical location of the shooting.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office at 434-589-8211.

The Lake Monticello Police Department is assisting with this investigation. Based on the initial information received, there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further will be released at this time, according to the sheriff’s department.
