Former Albemarle registrar Lauren Eddy charged with embezzlement, forgery

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Former Albemarle registrar Lauren Eddy was arrested and charged with two counts of felony embezzlement and one count of felony forgery on Thursday.

The Albemarle County Police Department received a report of suspected financial misconduct within the Albemarle County’s Office of the Registrar in back in August. An investigation revealed that between January and August, approximately $34,000 had been used for private purchases unrelated to county business, according to a release from the county.

Eddy was indicted on Monday. She turned herself in on Thursday and was released on an unsecured bond.
