CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Fluvanna County’s Economic Development Office has announced “after a year of dedicated work, The Drive-In at Fork Union is set to welcome moviegoers back beginning April 10.”

Rumors have been flying around the county for a few months, and the county announcement confirmed them.

“Originally opened in 1953, the Drive-In was once a lively gathering place where families and friends came together for evenings under the stars, and although it closed about 15 years ago, many residents never forgot the memories made there,” the release said. “Thanks to the vision of a local family taking on the job of opening and running the day-to-day operation, along with generous donations and sponsorships from the community, this cherished piece of Fluvanna’s history is coming back to life.”

The restored venue will accommodate more than 200 cars, nearly 1,000 guests and play both new and classic movies.

They have not revealed the opening films yet.
