CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – CvilleRightNow Editor-in-Chief Jaclyn Piermarini observed two cars that were burned, while Charlottesville Fire reports indicate that four cars were affected by a fire that broke out Monday morning in the Jackson-Via Elementary School parking lot off Harris Road during student drop-off. Charlottesville public safety’s Kyle Ervin reports no one was injured and the cause of the approximately 8am fire is under investigation. However, Piermarini says the apparent owner of a vehicle that completely burned out shared that she parked to drop her child off at school and apparently parked over a pile of leaves, which ignited underneath the hot engine. Firefighters blocked off a perimeter for most of the morning for fire extinguishment, investigation, and clean-up. CvilleRightNow.com will update information as it’s received.
