Fatal car-versus-motorcycle crash in Madison County

MADISON, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 29 and South Main Street, located on the southern edge of the town of Madison. A 2006 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling south on Route 29 at a high rate of speed at 5:19 p.m. when it collided with a northbound 2012 Subaru Impreza, which was making a left turn onto South Main Street.

The driver of the Suzuki, Lucio E. Weaver, 48, of Madison, Va., died while in transport to a local hospital. He was wearing a helmet. The driver of the Subaru, a 32-year-old female from Rochelle, Va., suffered minor injuries and was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment. She, too, was wearing a seatbelt.
No charges were placed. The crash remains under investigation.
