CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Originally set to open for drivers’ use on Thursday, March 12, the Virginia Department of Transportation has elected to move the removal of the route 680 detour back one day due to rain in the forecast.

The roundabout will open to the public on Friday, March 13.

Please travel with caution when using the roundabout, as construction is not yet complete.  VDOT expects construction to conclude by the middle of summer, 2026.

Crews will continue to work, placing the finishing touches in the area of the roundabout.

There will be occasional lane closures but only during overnight hours, and none are anticipated during times of the day that would result in heavy traffic.

More information on the project can be found HERE.
