CPD has arrested second suspect in Halloween night shooting

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Police have identified Charlottesville resident Kaijon Cortez Sholes, 20, as one of the suspects involved in the Nov. 1 shooting incident in the 1100 block of River Road during which four people were hit.

Shoals was arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Sholes is currently being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail with additional charges pending.

Four people were injured, including a gunman, following an altercation at a private Halloween party early Saturday morning, according to Charlottesville Police. The victims, who were all transported to UVA in stable condition, included a 44-year-old male, a 44-year-old female and 20-year-old male, all Charlottesville residents.

Juan Gavin Castillo, 20, of Greene County, was arrested after being hit by gunfire during the incident.

He is charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of maliciously discharging a firearm within a building or dwelling.
