Friday: Weather-Related Closures and Delays Due to Flooding

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Severe weather and flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Helene have prompted several closures and delays in the Charlottesville area. Below is a list of current updates for businesses and schools affected by the ongoing situation:

Government and Businesses:

  • Albemarle County Office Building – The offices at McIntire Road and 5th Street have closed early today. Both locations will resume normal business hours on Monday, September 30, 2024. Public safety departments remain operational. Early in-person voting at the 5th Street office is not impacted and will stay open until 5 PM today.
  • Charlottesville City Hall – Charlottesville City Hall will close early today at 3:30 PM (Friday, September 27, 2024) due to the ongoing severe weather. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, September 30, 2024. Public safety departments will continue to operate as normal.
  • \Charlottesville Parks and Recreation – Due to inclement weather, all facilities will close at 4:30 PM on September 27, 2024. Normal operations will resume on September 28, 2024.

  • Albemarle Co Public Schools – Closed Friday
  • Buckingham Co Public Schools – Closed Friday
  • Free Union Country School – 2-hour delay Friday
  • Greene Co Public Schools – Closed Friday
  • Kangaroo Preschool – 1-hour delay Friday
  • Miller School of Albemarle – Closed Friday
  • Nelson Co Public Schools – Closed Friday
  • North Branch School – 2-hour delay Friday
  • United Christian Academy – Closed Friday
