CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Burnley-Moran Elementary will be renamed Sunrise Elementary, and Johnson Elementary will become Tall Oaks Elementary, following a unanimous vote by the Charlottesville School Board. The changes will take effect in August 2025 as part of the district’s name review process.

Greenbrier and Jackson-Via Elementary Schools will keep their names, while the name Walker Upper Elementary School will be retired in 2026 when the building transitions to a preschool. For more details, the December presentation on the process is available online.
