CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – On a beautiful Thursday morning in the western end of McIntire Park… the dedication of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s “The Grove at McIntire Park”. Chamber interim president Andrea Copeland, along with Grove Committee Chair Peggy Van Yahres and Mayor JuanDiego Wade, all spoke at a stone terrace and monument inscribed with names of recipients of the chamber’s annual business leadership award.

In fact, Mayor Wade’s name is one of those inscribed as a recipient of the 2019 award as he was among other recipients — and family members of those who’ve departed since the award started in 1975.

Copeland says The Grove — a brainchild of Van Yahres — invites rest and reflection beneath the canopy of 150-year old oak trees in a quiet area of McIntire Park East.
