Former Charlottesville Weatherman Arrested on Sexual Extortion Charges

Albemarle County, VA (cvillerightnow.com): Following the conclusion of an investigation that began at the beginning of March, Albemarle County Police attained a warrant for the arrest of former area meteorologist Joshua W. Fitzpatrick on April 9th.  Fitzpatrick has been charged with one count of felony sexual extortion, and one count of unlawful creation of image of another.  The investigation following the report of an assault that took place after Fitzpatrick allegedly filmed a video of a consensual sexual encounter between himself and the victim and threatened to release it.  Fitzpatrick was arrested yesterday in Ohio, where he relocated shortly after the investigation began.  He is being held there for now pending extradition.  According to the ACPD, Fitzpatrick may have had multiple victims and are encouraging anyone who may have had an encounter with Fitzpatrick to reach out to the lead investigator on the case, M. Schneider, with the Criminal Investigations Division at 434-296-5807.
