ACPD: Armed Carjacking Suspects Lead Police on High-Speed Chase, Ending in Crash


ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 7:38 a.m., Albemarle County Police Department officer reported seeing a car being driven erratically along southbound Seminole Trail (U.S. 29). They identified the vehicle as stolen from Fairfax County during an armed carjacking earlier in the day. The officer reported that he attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at high speed down Seminole Trail. At the intersection of Greenbrier Drive, the stolen vehicle struck two other vehicles.

The driver and passenger in the stolen vehicle, both juveniles, were transported to UVA Medical Center. One juvenile sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the other is in serious condition. Police say a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were evaluated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.
