The Albemarle County Police Department has identified the driver in the photograph and determined they were not involved in the hit-and-run incident. Thank you for your assistance in sharing this information with the community.
ACPD is continuing to ask the public to come forward with any information that would lead to locating the suspect vehicle and to check their dash cam footage. ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County Police Department has posted an image of a car that was travelling along Porters Road when a student was struck on Thursday morning.

The student was waiting for a school bus in Esmont on Thursday, a county spokesperson confirmed to Cville Right Now.

“A child who was waiting at the bus stop did sustain an injury to their foot by a passing by car,” ACPD spokesperson Logan Bogert said.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Porters Road and King Solomons Lane in Esmont between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m.

According to an emergency call, a mother reported her son was hit by a car, which then fled the scene.

The injured student was transported to UVA hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his foot, Bogert said.

On Friday, ACPD posted the picture seen below on the department’s Facebook page.

“ACPD is asking the public to come forward with any information that may lead to locating the suspect vehicle in this incident,” an ACPD release said. “Anyone who was traveling in this area is encouraged to check their dash cam footage.”
