CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County Police Department arrested 19-year-old Asiyus S. Langhorn of Dillwyn and recovered a firearm following a chase late Sunday night, according to a release.

An officer pulled over a driver for failing to stay in their lane in the area of Seminole Trail and Airport Acres at approximately 11:22 p.m.

When the officer approached the vehicle, a firearm and extended magazine were seen in the passenger seat. The driver then fled the traffic stop, initiating a pursuit on northbound Seminole Trail.

The original officer and others who joined the chase saw the driver throw the firearm out the passenger-side window, the release stated.

The release said Langhorn lost control of his vehicle around Briarwood Drive and crashed.

He was taken into custody without further incident. Officers later recovered the firearm.

Langhorn has been charged with felony eluding, reckless handling of a firearm, underage driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane and travel.

Langhorn is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
