Work has been suspended on a toll road that would run parallel to US 460 between Petersburg and Suffolk.  Secretary of Transportation Aubrey Layne has told the House Transportation Committee that no more money will be spent on the $1.4 billion dollar, 55-mile highway until the state receives a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. The state has already spent nearly $200 million on design and related work, even with no permit in hand.
