(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA-WINA)  The Virginia Men’s Basketball team continues to pursue high level targets in the 2018 class.  After missing out on one of their top players earlier this summer in Jahvon Quinerly, the Hoos hosted his teammate this past weekend.  See the story below from the Sabre’s Chris Horne.

The Virginia basketball program has missed out on one top class of 2018 target out of Hudson Catholic (Jersey City, N.J.) in point guard Jahvon Quinerly, who committed to Arizona. UVA is a top contender with another Hudson Catholic backcourt star, though, and this weekend will be extremely important for the Hoos in this recruitment.

Luther Muhammad, a 6’3”, 175-pound combo guard, tweeted that he is visiting the University of Virginia this weekend.

Virginia offered a scholarship to the consensus (Scout, 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals) 4-star rising senior on August 2. Two days later, Muhammad narrowed his list to five schools. UVA made the cut along with Ohio State, St. John’s, West Virginia and Xavier.
Reporter Zach Braziller, who covers St. John’s Red Storm basketball for the New York Post, tweeted the following regarding Muhammad’s recruitment.

MadeHoops.com described Muhammad as “one of the most consistent” performers at the 2017 NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville  for the full report). The site lauded his high-level defensive effort and ability to get to the basket. The latter is something Virginia is looking for in this 2018 Class, while the former is always a requirement to play for head coach Tony Bennett.

TakeMyTalent.com had the following video of Muhammad’s performance at the Top 100.
