UVa Health Pharmacy at Stoney Creek had Monday grand opening

NELLYSFORD (WINA) – Residents in Nellysford, Wintergreen, and the Rockfish Valley in general are giving thanks this week for a new UVa Health Pharmacy at Stoney Creek. Kasey Griffith is the lead pharmacist at the Stoney Creek facility that had its grand opening Monday as the only pharmacy in the area since their sole one closed four years ago. She told Morning News that meant citizens have had to drive to Waynesboro, Crozet, or Charlottesville — 20-to-25 miles one-way — just to get to a pharmacy.

“As you can imagine, if your sick or have any sort of transportation issues where you don’t have access to a car or money for gas, it’s been a huge barrier for these people just to get their medications”, Griffith said.

Right on Route 151 adjacent to the Stoney Creek neighborhood as well as UVa Health’s family medicine office there, Griffith says people can walk to the facility… and it’s only a couple of miles from a Sentara family medicine facility there.

This new pharmacy is part of the outreach in UVa Health’s new 10-year strategic plan, and a result of Rockfish Valley citizens expressing their medical needs.
