CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Calling selection of the University’s 9th President the most important responsibility the Board of Visitors must do, Rector William Goodwin has announced a 22-member selection committee. The committee is made up of the 11 Board members, 5 faculty members, 3 former board members — 2 of whom are former rectors, 2 students, and a senior member of the UVa Medical Center management team.

A University release says they’ll break into subcommittees “that will seek input from students, faculty, staff, and alumni as to what qualifications and traits they believe are important for the next President to possess”.

The committee also plans to hold town hall meetings in Charlottesville, Wise, and other cities across the Commonwealth and nation. A dedicated website will be developed so individuals may contact the committee directly and share views.

An executive search firm will assist the committee.  The first meeting is February 20th.
