Mar 31, 2022, News Release
On Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, at about 1:30 PM, the Louisa County Sheriff’s
Office (LCSO) received a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of CCC Road in
Louisa, VA. The caller reported that two suspects had come to the residence and after shooting into the home, left in a newer model blue Chevrolet Camaro. The
caller also reported that one person had been shot.
Deputy Sheriffs quickly arrived at the residence and after making contact with an
adult female victim with an apparent gunshot injury, were able to begin first aid.
The victim was treated on scene for a non-life-threatening injury and was
transported to UVA Hospital.
Another Deputy Sheriff while arriving, observed a vehicle matching the
description given by the caller, leaving the area, and after activating their
emergency equipment, attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop,
which led to a pursuit with the vehicle as it traveled down several roadways,
through the Town of Mineral, and back onto Route 33 towards Hanover County.
Contact was made with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office about the suspect
vehicle and the direction of travel, while other LCSO deputies created a wide
perimeter around the area of the pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle
reached speeds over 100 mph, passed several cars on double solid lines, and ran
off the roadway at several locations. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle on Route
33 in the area of Bethany Church Road, so with regards to public safety, deputies
ended the pursuit.
Hanover County reported that the vehicle did not enter their county, so a search
was made of the area, with the vehicle being located in a cul-de-sac off of Windy
Knight Road, in Montpelier, VA.
The suspects, 24-year-old Erann Ohse, and 25-year-old Andrew Poindexter, both of Fredericksburg, VA, were taken into custody without incident.
Among the charges are maliciously shoot, with intent to maim, disfigure or kill; maliciously discharge a firearm within a building or dwelling house when occupied; and felony elude.
“Our Louisa Deputies did a terrific job in responding quickly to assist the victim of
this violent act to ensure their safety.”, Sheriff Donnie Lowe says, “While other
deputies reacted professionally and with due regard to public safety, ending the
pursuit. These deputies were able to develop a perimeter with the assistance of
other LCSO deputies and members of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Then
while checking the area inside the perimeter and locating the suspect’s vehicle,
were able to bring this tragic incident to a safe conclusion. Great job LCSO
deputies!”
