Norfolk Police Officer Killed In Line Of Duty

Three are dead following a violent night in Norfolk. An officer on the Norfolk police force has died, along with a student at a private school, and the man who’s accused of shooting both the policeman and the high school student. 35-year-old Officer Brian Jones was fatally shot early Saturday while he was responding to reports of a man shooting at cars along Norfolk’s Chesapeake Boulevard. Jones and an off-duty police officer exchanged gunfire with the suspected gunman as he was trying to flee the scene in his vehicle. 29-year-old James Brown has died from his officer. A bullet from Brown’s gun struck and killed 17-year-old Mark Rodriguez, who a student at Norfolk Christian High School.
