Troopers were asked by the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office to help apprehend a man wanted for violent felony and misdemeanor charges… and troopers found the man in a Chevy Tahoe with a woman passenger around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot off West Main Street in Waynesboro.

As troopers tried to apprehend him, the man drove off and hit a state police vehicle.
A pursuit ensued on 250 through Waynesboro into Augusta County, then south on the Blue Ridge Parkway before exiting on Pedlar River Road where the suspect jumped out and the Tahoe rolled into a ditch.

The armed suspect was shot and killed during a confrontation on-foot. The female passenger was not hurt. No trooper was hurt.

The body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for positive ID and autopsy. The troopers are on administrative leave pending investigation.
