Replica Boats Make Scottsville Stop

Advocates for “old school” transportation arrived in Scottsville Wednesday as part of a weeklong trip along the James River. The crews of 18th-century replica boats came ashore for this year’s Batteau Festival. It gave them a chance to buy barbecue and lemonade from Scottsville area vendors.

The boats are scheduled to stop Thursday afternoon at Slate River, and Friday evening
at Cartersville. The festival begins every June in Lynchburg and ends at Maiden’s Landing west of Richmond.
