Pilot fighting for life after Buckingham County plane crash

BUCKINGHAM (WINA) – A Midlothian man is fighting for his life at UVa after crashing his plane shortly after noon July 4th in a Buckingham County cornfield. State Police say Justin G. Knight of Midlothian took off from a private airstrip off Alcoma Road in Buckingham with his 11-year old son as a passenger. The boy sustained only minor injuries.

Police say the plane’s engine stalled and the plane went down in the field in the 100 block of Mountain View Lane. The plane is an Aviat A-1C-180, and both the FAA and NTSB have also been notified.
