A teenager crowned Miss Nelson County in March has died following an accident last month. The Miss Nelson Pageant Facebook page says 16-year-old Whitney Loving passed away Thursday morning. Loving was involved in an accident June 26th in which the Jeep she was driving crashed in southeastern Nelson County.

Loving was in a medically-induced coma at the UVA Medical Center when she passed away. Pageant director Melanie Embrey says Loving will remain Miss Nelson until next year’s event. A vigil will be held at 7 o’clock Friday night at Nelson County High School.
