VDOT Urged To Sell Property In Western Bypass Route

Sell the homes in the path of the western bypass. That was the message from several people who spoke at Wednesday’s meeting of the Albemarle Supervisors. They want pressure put on VDOT to unload the homes the agency bought because they were in the proposed route (pictured). Now that the western bypass has been put on ice, opponents want the  highway department to sell those houses back to their original owners or put them on the market. Martha Wilhelm, who lives next to the bypass route, has been trying to sell her house. She says the uncertainty that has surrounded the project has made it very difficult.
