CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Former Hoo and now Milwaukee Buck rookie Malcolm Brogdon will have his number 15 retired at JPJ before tonight’s game against Miami. The Atlanta native becomes the 7th player in the basketball program’s history to receive such an honor. He finished his career at UVa as the school’s 9th-leading all-time scorer, 1st in free throw percentage, 2nd in games played, 5th in minutes played, 6th in 3-point percentage, 7th in 3-pointers made, and 9th in free throws made. He was a 2-time All-American… 2nd-team in his 3rd-year, and 1st-team in his 4th. He was a leader in 111 UVa wins during his tenure, 4 NCAA tournament appearances, 2 ACC regular season titles, and 1 ACC tournament title.
Brogdon — who averages 9 points and 4 assists in 25 minutes-a-game played in Milwaukee — will have a 6pm press conference from JPJ which will be streamed live on Facebook. His number-15 will be retired in a pregame ceremony, and he will also be honored at halftime. The Hoos and Miami tip off at 7.
Brogdon (15) will join Jeff Lamp (3), Barry Parkhill (40), Ralph Sampson (50), Sean Singletary (44), Bryant Stith (20), Wally Walker (41) and Buzzy Wilkinson (14) as players whose numbers will not be worn again by at UVa.
