Charlottesville CNE and Chamber write letter to Governor to not leave nonprofits out of COVID funding

CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Charlottesville’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence along with the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce are among 11 nonprofit capacity builders and chambers who’ve signed on to a letter to Governor Northam to not leave nonprofits out of COVID-19 response. CNE’s Christine Nardi says nonprofits are on the front lines themselves in COVID-19 response to a number of community needs. Struggling community members put more demand on nonprofits, and COVID is costing them more to safely deliver those services.

She says state funding right now only goes to some categorized nonprofits, and the letter urges dedicated funding with all nonprofits eligible.

It also calls for the Governor creating a nonprofit task force to steer that process.
