CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) — Charlottesville has a new interim city manager.

City Council unanimously approved Michael C. Rogers Tuesday night.

He was one of several candidates presented by the Robert Bobb Group, a national minority-owned firm that specializes in public and private advisory professionals.

Rogers’ career highlights include leadership rolls in Washington, D.C., and Petersburg, among other cities and organizations. He has also worked in the private sector and holds a juris doctorate degree.

Rogers says he is excited about the opportunity, and that staff development and building cohesive teams have been staples of his career.

“I look forward to coming to town, hitting the ground running, working with you, listening to you, understanding the missions that are immediately before you, so that we can work on constructive solutions,” he told council.

Rogers is the city’s sixth person to fill this role since July of 2018. That number includes two who decided to opt out before their start date.
