Albemarle Adds Five Days For Snow Make Up

The Albemarle School Board will not change a policy on making up for snow days. The board has accepted a staff recommendation to add five days to the existing calendar, and the new last day of classes will be June 13th. The county has missed ten days this year, and the board is asking teachers to use the extra days doing something of value. Eric Strucko and Pam Moynihan (pictured) have heard complaints about teachers who showed movies in class. The county has not ruled out asking Richmond for a waiver. If the state grants the request, classes might end two days earlier. The school staff received more than 6000 responses to a survey on options for making up the lost time. The lion’s share of the suggestions involved asking the state for a waiver.
