There’s a new leader of the Albemarle School Board. Kate Acuff (pictured left) of the Jack Jouett District was unanimously elected Thursday night as the new chairwoman. Steve Koleszar of the Scottsville District is the new vice chairman. Koleszar defeated Jason Buyaki of the Rivanna District in a 5-2 election for the number two spot.

Jonno Alcaro, who’s the at-large member, has attended his first board meeting. Both Alcaro and David Oberg, who’s now representing the White Hall District, have terms that will expire in December 2019. Graham Paige (pictured right and wearing a blue shirt), was also elected last November. Paige is completing an unexpired term and will represent the Samuel Miller District through December 2017.
