4th Annual Harambee for Makindu: BBQ & Cider Benefit

    April 11, 2026 - 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm at Potter’s Craft Cider
    1350 Arrowhead Valley Rd.

Walter Slawsky, owner of The Catering Outfit, and Michael Farley from the Makindu Children’s Program stopped by the Big Greasy Breakfast with Morgan in the Morning, and Tawne for the Community Cubbie, to talk about the impact of the program and how the community can come together for this meaningful day of music, food, and philanthropy.

The 4th Annual Harambee for Makindu is coming to Potter’s Craft Cider on Saturday, April 11th from 12 PM to 10 PM, bringing a full day of music, community, and giving back to support the Makindu Children’s Program in Kenya. Inspired by the Swahili word harambee, meaning “all pull together,” this lively festival features an afternoon lineup of local bands including Gia Ray, Betty Jo, The Pollocks, and Josh Mayo and the House Sauce, along with kids’ activities, games, raffles, and live auctions throughout the day.

The celebration continues at 7 PM with a special ticketed benefit concert featuring reggae powerhouse Mighty Joshua, whose high-energy performance helps raise funds for Makindu’s mission of feeding, educating, and caring for vulnerable children in Eastern Kenya. Food will be available all day from The Catering Outfit, with 100% of food sales going directly to support the Makindu Children’s Program.
